    Analysis of graphite electrode consumption by graphite electrode material factory

    In addition to providing graphite electrode materials, graphite electrode materials factory also produces and supplies different kinds of graphite electrodes to meet the needs of users for graphite electrodes. Although, after a period of development, the majority of users have some understanding of the graphite electrode, but these understandings are not comprehensive. In response to such a situation, and in order to deepen our understanding of graphite electrodes, our company will explain the consumption principle of graphite electrodes.
        1. End consumption, including sublimation of graphite material caused by arc high temperature and loss of chemical reaction between electrode tip and molten steel and slag. The rate of high temperature sublimation at the end depends mainly on the current density through the electrode, and secondly on the diameter of the side of the electrode after oxidation. The end consumption is also related to whether or not the electrode is inserted into the molten steel.
        2, side oxidation, the chemical composition of the electrode is carbon, carbon under certain conditions will be oxidized with air, water vapor, carbon dioxide, the side oxidation of the electrode is related to the unit oxidation rate and exposed area. Under normal circumstances, the amount of oxidation on the side of the electrode should account for about 50% of the total electrode consumption. In order to increase the speed of the electric furnace smelting, the frequency of the oxygen blowing operation is increased, resulting in an increase in the oxidation loss of the electrode. In the steel making process, it is often observed that the degree of redness of the electrode trunk and the taper of the lower end are an intuitive method for measuring the antioxidant capacity of the electrode.
        3. When the stump is lost and the electrode is continuously used to the junction of the upper and lower electrodes, a small electrode or joint (ie, the residue) is detached due to the oxidation of the body or the penetration of the crack. The amount of stump loss is related to the shape of the joint, the internal structure of the electrode, the vibration of the electrode column, and the impact.
        4. Surface peeling and falling off, quenching and hot in the smelting process, and the result of poor thermal shock resistance of the electrode itself.

        5, the electrode is broken, including the electrode torsion fracture and joint fracture. Electrode breakage is related to the quality and processing of graphite electrodes and joints, and is also related to steelmaking operations. The cause is often the focus of disputes between steel mills and electrode manufacturers.
